1.      General Information about the Department:

The Department of Internal Medicine will provide an educational experience for clinical clerks offering graduated supervised responsibility for patient care in the area of general internal medicine. During the clerkship each student will gain an awareness of the knowledge, skills, values and attitudes that internists strive to acquire and maintain throughout their professional lives. Students will have graduated supervised responsibility for patient care, learning to integrate clinical knowledge with practical experience

Department of Medicine is now fully equipped with laboratory facilities, Cath lab, emergency ward and ICU, apart from teaching facilities, like audiovisual aids, departments of Cardiology , Chest Medicine , Nephrology and ART are functioning independently.

The Department of Cardiology has four cardiologists with a full-fledged Cath-lab, Echocardiography and Tread-Mill test facility with 10 well-equipped ICCU beds

 

The Nephrology unit has 5 dialysis machines functioning full-time.

 

The ART unit has already registered 12000 HIV patients out of which more than 2500 patients are on HAART and also has CD4 testing facility and also admission facility for HIV patients, in all stages. 

 

The Chest Medicine department is providing good care for all chest related illnesses including bronchoscopy facility.
